But first, here's a petition to sign:
Pre-shampoo. Before tackling my wash day, I started detangling my hair beforehand. When my hair is ready to be washed, it is usually dry and matted. So, I started using products to detangle my hair before washing it. You can use oil, conditioner, aloe vera, or a product specifically designed for pre-shampooing to pre-shampoo your hair.
I have been using this, and I love it:

Sections! I section my hair into 5 parts. You don't have to section in quadrants like most people. I section my hair based on what areas need extra attention. The middle of my hair needs more care than the rest of my hair, and the front of my hair is thicker than the back of my hair. If my hair is more tangled, I don't hesitate to add more sections. Sectioning my hair like this works for me:

Finger Detangling. I used to detangle with a comb while pre-shampooing, conditioning, and styling my hair. I realized that it was too much for my hair- I would see big clumps of hair in the shower after detangling my hair; I started only using my comb for styling my hair and finger detangle for the other steps in my wash day. I recommend trying to minimize the use of a comb and do what works for you.
I use indirect heat during deep conditioning because I have low porosity hair. After rinsing out my deep conditioner and adding my styling products, my hair would feel dry. I was so confused. Then it became clear to me that I also need to apply heat when moisturizing my hair. After adding my products, I put a shower cap on and add a little heat for half an hour or so, and this works perfectly for me : ).
Want to shorten your wash day when it's time to deep condition? Don't skip deep conditioning. Skip the regular conditioning instead. Use the deep conditioner and let it stay in your hair while washing your body. Finish your usual routine after rinsing your hair.
Music! Create a wash day playlist. My closest friends know not to call while I'm washing my hair. I don't take calls because that would disrupt my music, and my wash day is my designated "me time." I love my playlist, and music makes everything better! Anything Jhené Aiko has to be in my playlist. My current favourite song:

Great post !
@GeAnne High porosity hair is hair that has highly raised cuticles, which allows moisture to get in easily and also leave the hair easily. Relaxed hair is an example of high porosity hair. There is more information on hair porosity on my first 3 posts.
What is high porosity hair?
@abrowne.say Nope. For high porosity hair, the cuticles are open and readily accepts products. So heat is not needed. I actually recommend using cool water to seal in moisture and close the cuticles : )
If you have high porosity hair should you still use indirect heat instead of direct heat? In your opinion?
