After determining your hair porosity, you can now use the appropriate hair products and techniques to achieve your hair goals. For a float test, low porosity hair floats on the top of the water. This type of hair has tightly packed cuticles and is resistant to moisture/water. Heat and steam can be used to open the cuticles when trying to moisturize your hair. Moisturizing your hair can be done effectively by using the following:

- Deep conditioning cap

- Hooded dryer

- Hair steamer

- Warm water in the shower

Low porosity hair is protein sensitive. Therefore, use products that contain protein sparingly- preferable hydrolyzed protein. Choose products that focus on moisture/hydration. Low porosity hair is also prone to product build-up, so ensure to use a clarifying shampoo as needed to prevent product build-up.
